Although production started in 1989 most parts are from the 1990 range. The instrument cluster, seats, etc.

Other parts are normally from either the Rallye Golf or the Golf G60.

Service items are:-

Spark Plus NGK BCPR7ET

Fan belt Available from VW Racing only (2030mm)

Oil Filter Stock item

Air Filter Stock item

Always use Mobil 1 oil

Brake discs as per Rallye Golf

Brake pads as per Rallye Golf

Clutch as per VR6 Golf

Suspension as per Rallye Golf

Exhaust as per Rallye Golf

Re exhaust system I would recommend "Mike the Pipe" from Croydon. He will copy any exhaust system, make it in anything you request and at a fraction of the price.

If converting the speedo to read in mph and kmph use a late 1990 onwards model, with one wiring loom block connector. The speedo from a 16-valve will act as a donor and should read up to 160mph. The 1990 model vehicle has the hazard warning lights switch mounted on the steering column where as the earlier models had a dash mounted switch.

I simply replaced the speedo and not the complete cluster. The only fault is that the MFA still records in kmph. At present I can live with that.
